The Strathmore University Medical Centre was launched in 28th March 2012. Since its launch, we have been delivering quality medical services to students, staff and their families. Here are some answers of the most frequently asked questions by you with regards to the medical centre.
Where is the Strathmore University Medical Centre?
We are located behind Strathmore University Library in Keri Campus. To reach the medical centre please use the concrete path that leads to Keri Residence.
What are the operation hours and days of the medical center?
The medical center is open on Monday to Friday from 7:30 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, and on public holidays from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Who can come to the medical center?
The Medical center is open to all students, staff members and their families. We also are open to outsiders, i.e people who are not staff or students.
What services will I get at the medical center?
The medical center provides the services found at a comprehensive medical center which include:
- Medical Consultations
- Medical Check-ups
- Laboratory Services
- Paediatric services
- Natural Family Planning services
- Medical emergency services
- ECG (on appointment)
- Ultrasound (on appointment)
Can I buy medicines or take lab tests from doctors outside the medical center?
Yes you can. In fact there is a great advantage for doing so:
- Our drugs and lab tests are discounted
- There are no queues therefore the services are quicker
- For those with continuous medication we can supply the drugs at cheaper rates than the market.
- We can also sell over- the – counter products and medicines at discounted rates
How much is the consultation at the medical center?
The Medical Consultation fees is as follows;
General Practitioner (GP):
- Staff and Other patients – KShs. 1800
- Students – KShs. 900
- Staff and other patients – KShs. 3500
- Students – KShs. 2000
- Staff and other patients – Kshs. 3000
- Students – 500
What kind of medical staff do you have?
There is a medical doctor present at the medical center at all times who is assisted by a nurse. We also have a consultation paediatrician available for those who would like to bring their children.
Is the medical centre open to outsiders?
Yes, the medical centre is open to outsiders. The Strathmore community is also welcome to bring their close and extended family members and friends.
How does one pay for services at the medical center?
Members of staff and the public can access services at the medical centre using their Sedwig Insurance, NHIF, Salary deduction, MPESA, Cash or any other insurance. The students can pay through MPESA, NHIF, Cash, School fees addition, etc.
